What is kraft paper dye?
Kraft paper dye is a liquid colorant added to the pulp in the wet end of the paper machine so that kraft, kraft liner and test liner reach a uniform brown shade. It is not a printing ink applied on finished kraft paper. Anionic dyes bond to fibers with the help of alum or a cationic fixative; cationic dyes bond directly to lignin-rich and recycled fibers.
What is egg tray dye?
Egg tray dye is a cationic dye for molded-pulp egg packaging made from recycled paper. It must bond strongly to recycled pulp and keep its shade through drying. LIGNIN formulates egg tray dye for each factory’s pulp and process conditions.
Anionic vs cationic paper dye
Anionic (direct) dyes carry a negative charge and are the usual choice for large lines running recycled OCC pulp in Iran: they mix uniformly in the pulp, are economical and light-fast, but need alum or a fixative. Cationic (basic) dyes carry a positive charge, bond without alum and give clearer white water, but can mottle when applied at the size press.
